Playlist Fiction: Part Three

Edit: Okay, so this was supposed to be posted a few days ago, but you can thank Blogger. It decided it didn't want to post it, even though I had it scheduled. And when I tried to post it, it just gave me some error thing. But here it is now, and Blogger seems to be working with me for now. ***end of edit***

Today we're talking about Jennifer Murgia and her book, "Between These Lines." I just LOVE the title. I'm not sure why, but it appeals to me so much.
About the book: I haven't finished it yet, but what I have read is lovely. I'm really enjoying it and the style. It's a great book, so far. I'll post the synopsis after April 1st.

About the author:
Jennifer Murgia is the author of Young Adult Fantasy novels ANGEL STAR, LEMNISCATE and the prequel novella THE BLISS (Lands Atlantic Publishing).
She is the co-founder and coordinator for YAFest—an annual teen book festival in Easton, PA, and a Next Generation Indie Award Nominee. She currently resides in Pennsylvania with her husband, two children and a very spoiled cat.
Visit her website at www.jennifermurgia.com
You can connect with her on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Goodreads.

Now you've met the first three authors! We'll meet the others soon. But, before then, I'll share a few things that the street team made for the books. There will be picture edits, videos, and more. Keep checking in!

God bless!

Playlist Fiction: Part Two

I'm back! I bet you didn't think I would be until next month, eh? Well, wrong you were. Anyhow, update about yesterday's post on Laura L. Smith. She also judges many of the contests on Go Teen Writers, my very favorite blog on the entire universe of the internet. I always seem to forget that. I guess you never really think of the judges while you're completed focused on whether your entry was one of the top picked or not. Just thought I'd add that.

And now, today on a different author and a different book from the Playlist Young Adult Fiction.

"Glass Girl" by Laura Anderson Kurk!

About the book: Where do I ever start? Let me just say, it was terrific. I couldn't stop reading. Anyway, it's a re-write of her book that was published in 2010. It has the same title, and you can find it on Goodreads.

About the author:

Laura Anderson Kurk is one of those lucky souls who gets to live in a college town. In fact, it’s her college town—College Station, Texas, where she drove in under cover of darkness when she was way too young and proceeded to set the place on fire. She majored in English for the love of stories, and due to a massive crush on F. Scott Fitzgerald. She continued on to receive an advanced degree in literature. She writes contemporary books for young adults, a genre that gives her the freedom to be honest. Her debut novel Glass Girl is an unconventional and bittersweet love story, and its sequel Perfect Glass makes long-distance love look possible.

She’s crazy about her husband and her two ginger-headed kids. Laura blogs at Writing for Young Adults (laurakurk.com). She’s a featured columnist at Choose Now Ministries, where she writes On Hollywood. On twitter, she’s @laurakurk.

Just an FYI, I'll talk more about the books on April 1st and after. Sorry I'm not giving much information. I'm just waiting until we have more to give about it. Which will be April 1st.

I'm such a bad blogger . . .

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while. I'm going to try to post here at least once every two weeks. My life is just very boring and busy with school.

But, guess what? Changing Time has passed 56K words! It's going great. Well, maybe not so great. The whole thing is a big mess, really. I feel like I'm holding a bunch of wet, muddy papers. And that makes no sense, but, then again, nothing I think ever makes sense.

Changing Time is . . . coming along. In word count at least. I was certain I would finish it by 55K words. But here I am, already heading for 60K. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind having more words. But I just want it done. I know the word count will get higher during edits. Well, whenever I'm not cutting scenes and crying like a baby because of it.

Yes, I will cry like a baby whenever I cut a scene.

But right now, I can only dream of editing. It's kind of like chasing a lightning bug. Or mountains. You feel so close, and you can see it so well, but at the same time, it's so far away, and you don't think you'll ever get there or catch it.

Well, I was never good at catching lightning bugs. I hope that doesn't mean that chances are I will never get to editing. O.o

I need to stop giving examples. I always give bad examples and end up worrying myself or other people even more than I/they had been before. -_-

Once I DO get to editing, don't plan on seeing me anytime soon. I'll be too busy printing my story and scribbling all over it with a red pen. Heh. I don't mean neat kind of scribbles either. Never mind. I'll just buy a red marker. Or red paint. And then I'll just paint over the whole thing.

Why do I say that? Because my story is no longer what it was meant to be. The summary I wrote? It no longer applies to the story. I don't give it out anymore when people ask me what my story's about. I just laugh and sit there for twenty minutes thinking of what it was supposed to be. And then I'll tell them, "It's complicated. Are you sure you have nothing to do for the next four hours? If not, you might want to turn off your cell phone, get a snack, grab a drink, and use the bathroom real quick, because this will not be interrupted."

That normally saves me from having to talk about my mess of a story. And the look on their face when you say that is priceless.

Someday, my story will be good. And when it is, I'll start telling more people about it. Like, when a big publisher accepts it. And it becomes a bestseller. And movie directors are vying for my book to turn it into some big, multi-million movie.

Hey, a girl can dream, right? I may not be dreaming of weddings and all that come with it, but a dream's a dream, right?

And anyway, I'm not sure I really want my book to be a movie. Do I really want Hollywood to make it something it isn't? After watching Gary Ross tear The Hunger Games up, and hearing all about how Francis Lawrence is butchering Catching Fire . . . do I REALLY want to watch my book become that?

I don't know.

But that, dear readers, is for another post, another day. Frankly, I need to go deal with Skyfire and the doctor she's trying to kill right now. I need to get her under control and back onto my NEW plan. All of this could have been avoided if she hadn't had a hissy fit. But then my story wouldn't be as interesting. And I'd still have things going the way I originally planned them.

God bless!

Liebster Award!

Hello again, my lovelies. Guess what? I have been nominated for the Liebster award by Sarah from Inklined! Isn't that so sweet? Thanks, Sarah!

The Liebster award is for nominating any kind of blogger that has 200 followers or less. It's to help gain more followers and discover new blogs! Awesome, right? Okay, now for the rules:

  1.  List 11 facts about yourself.

  2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger who nominated you left.

  3. Ask 11 new questions for those who you nominate.

  4. Choose 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers to nominate.

  5. Go to each blogger's page and let them know about the award.

  6. Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.

Now, for the 11 facts about me:

  1. I was about to type "eleven" even after typing the "11." I do that a lot.
  2. I have turned certain members of my family into fangirls/boys over The Hunger Games. Even my grandmother.
  3. I have almost completed the first draft of Changing Time (But, I wrote this yesterday --er, today, the 29th-- and I hope to be done with it by the time you read this. :P)
  4. I used to worry a lot when I was little.
  5. I share my mother's middle name (Marie).
  6. I have a psychopathic cat named Callie, who I am sure is crazy.
  7. I have spent the whole day trying to figure out what "facts" I should post about myself.
  8. I'm dramatic.
  9. I'm fiercely loyal to people I love, and I tend to baby them and "protect" them from outsiders. >_<
  10. I get really wild when I eat even a little sugar. Anything with sugar in it makes me hyper, and I type in CAPS until the sugar wears off.
  11. I have a king in my family (No joke).
Now, for the 11 questions that I must answer:

 1. If you could go to one concert for free, who would you see?
Umm . . . Kari Jobe, I guess. *shrug* I don't care for concerts.

2. If jelly stopped existing, how would you make a PB&J with something else as the J?
Well, I'd use jam, of course. Jam and jelly are WAY different. :P

3. If you could go any one place, where would you go?
Just ONE? I want to visit so many places! Wisconsin, Ireland, England, France, Italy, etc etc. One out of those? Uhhh . . . England, I guess. I'd go see the castle that my family used to own.

4. What, if any, channels are you subscribed to on Youtube?
You want me to list them all? (._.) *goes to Youtube* Um, HowToBasic (Hilarious guy!), BlimeyCow (Also hilarious), BrokenLensProductions (also hilarious), MarkLowry (You guessed it, hilarious), HGfanchannel, TheHungerGamesMovie, HGfansite, KariJobe, Musicalbasics, BethanyHouse, PaulFromStokeUK, and American High School (My school's youtube channel).

5. Chemistry or Physics?
. . . I'll probably have to do both this year. But, I'm guessing Physics will be easier, so . . . Physics.

6. Do you play in instrument?  If so, what?
Yep! I play the piano.

7. What's your favorite breakfast cereal?
Ugh. I hate cereal. But . . . Cocoa Puffs, I guess.

8. How do you like your eggs cooked?  (If you're a vegetation, how do you like your tofu cooked?)
Scrambled. ONLY SCRAMBLED. I will not eat an egg unless it is scrambled (Or deviled, but whatevs).

9. Do you listen to music while you blog?
Sometimes. Most of the time, no.

10. What was the title of your first blog post?
On here? Uh . . . I don't remember. Probably something like "Hi!" or "Hey, this is my first blog post!"

11. Why did you start blogging?  (Stolen, I know.  But it's a great question.)
Well, I was just starting out on my writing journey, and I was trying to figure out how a person gets readers. I read a webpage and it was talking about building a platform by blogging what you're going to write. At the time, I was writing Historical Romances, so I started up an interview/book review blog. But then I switched and decided I'd rather blog about . . . whatever I blog about here.

I must now ask the questions. (O_O) Forgive any awful questions:

  1. Sunrises or sunsets? Why?
  2. Favorite book/series (if you read)?
  3. Do you have a routine, or more spontaneous?
  4. What is your favorite board game?
  5. What's your dream car?
  6. What is a TV show that you hate?
  7. Favorite food?
  8. What were you doing the last time you really had a good laugh?
  9. What is your quirkiest habit and how long have you had it?
  10.  If you could take a one month trip anywhere and money was not a consideration, where would you go? (This may have already been asked)
  11.  What song always makes you happy when you hear it?

Time to nominate! Sorry, but I can't do 11 bloggers.

Kendra from Writers and Readers
Ummmm . . . Everyone else I can think of has been tagged already!  Well, probably not everyone, but it's almost midnight. Well . . . when I was writing it, it was almost midnight. Therefore, I'm tired. Really tired. So, I tag Kendra and anyone else who wishes to do it! Good day/night my dears!

Why people write (And other random things because I ramble)

Hi! I know, it's been a long time since I last posted. I've been so busy with writing and life . . . well, blogging just seemed to be put on the back burner, so to speak.

Anyway, I'm talking about why people write. But only kinda-sorta, because what do I know about people? (._.) Absolutely nothing, that's what. People confuse me greatly. So I try to stay away from confusing people, therefore people think I'm an Introvert, when really, I just don't want to kill my brain by over-thinking. Trust me, it can be done.

RIGHT. Like I was saying, why do people write? Well, people write for many different reasons. Some write to get their thoughts and feelings out of their way. Say, someone really doesn't like someone else, they might write them into a story and then completely destroy and mutilate their character. I've been known to do this.

Others write for fun! You know, to create crazy and silly stories that they keep only to themselves. Well, they might occasionally write a sweet little story for someone they care about.

A few might write as their career (Say, multi-millionaire bestselling writers who have already established themselves). I would love to do nothing more than to write and edit and do writerly things all day. Perhaps when Changing Time becomes a bestseller and makes thousands, I shall (Hey, Veronica Roth hit bestseller on her first book. I'm pretty sure it's not all that impossible).

Some people (coughmecough) write to rid themselves of their psychopathic/sociopathic and schizophrenic tendencies. You can know their writing by how many people they kill (This is mostly bestsellers. And they ALWAYS kill that one, unsuspecting, poor person two pages before the end. RIP Surprisingly killed characters).

Some people (coughmeagaincough) write because they are really a bunch a different people inside, and they're trying to be one person. So they choose who they want to be and then write the rest onto the pages of a story.

Okay, so there are a few of the many reasons people write. Now, not everything I say should be taken seriously. Okay, 98% of what I say shouldn't be taken seriously. So, yeah. (o_o)

You may be wondering why I wrote this worthless blogpost. All I can say is that I needed to post something. And I got this idea. Aaaaand. . . . that's all.

The Next Big Thing!

Hi y'all! I was tagged by Cynthia P. Willow. Check out her blog here. And her books here. She has two books (That I know of), out right now. They are Christian Fiction with a touch of Fantasy. Check her out!

So, Miss Cynthia tagged me in this Blog Hop, called "The Next Big Thing." So, I'm going to blog about the my latest work in progress.

Title: The Girl Who Couldn't Cry (working title).

Where did the idea come from?
Well . . . I was sitting in the bathtub. And I've always had a fascination with the water and waterdroplets. So, I was watching the water drop from my fingertips back into the water, and watched it ripple. And my crazy brain started twisting the idea of water falling. Soon, it became teardrops. And then I came up with the idea of a girl who couldn't cry, and if she did, she would die. I wanted to write it for some time, but Changing Time was taking my time and I had to focus on it.

Genre: Uh . . . Sci-fi/Fantasy

What actors would play your character in the movie version?
Ugh. I have no clue! You see, I just started, and I haven't really thought of my dream cast. Not to mention I don't have a (real) villain yet. So . . . . Well, let's say the dream cast will most likely change with time.

So, with that, I would have Alex Mills or Josh Hutcherson as Greg (AKA Thyril) Landers. I can't pick, because I can imagine both of them as Greg (Thyril) so easily. But I don't think I would want Josh Hutcherson (as wonderful a person as he is) playing my womanizer, jerk of a character Greg.

Now, I can't choose between Kiera Knightly, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nina Dobrev for my Ritia. They all have that look to them. Fierce, determined, tough. So, one of these three for Ritia would be fine.

So, I'm stuck between Dianna Agron (I think that's her name) and Reese Witherspoon for Ritia's friend, Courtney. Jennifer Lawrence is a blonde, too, so she might fit this part too.

So, I'm not sure if this girl is famous or whatever (I'm not even sure if she's played in anything. I'm getting all of these pictures off Google Images because I was too lazy to think up any real actors/actresses for my characters), but this is Karen Gillan (or so Google says), and I think she would be perfect for my character Ginger, who shall become bigger to the plot later on (Like, Book 5 or something, if I even get that far).

So, Alex Pettyfer or Taylor Lautner for Greg's best friend, James. Neither of them look very much like him, but hey. Beggers can't be choosers, and I could find NO ONE else that even faintly resembled the image in my head.

Donald Sutherland would probably be the best for my villain (the one I think I have). He looks like the evil scientist, "I-want-to-control-the-world" type. My villain HAS NO NAME, though. (._.) YET.

Short Synopsis: Greg Landers can never seem to catch a break when it comes to relationships. He's never been very good at staying with one person for too long. He's what his friend, James, calls a heartbreaker. After another breakup, Greg meets Ritia Mason, a mysterious girl who seems to be stalking him. Little does he know, he happens to be her assignment. Ritia Mason is a girl that was medically altered by the Russian government before she was even born. She was brought to America by a kind-hearted employee at the facility where she was kept as a child. Now the Russian government is looking for her, fifteen years later. But it's not only Ritia that they're after . . .

Agency Representation: None yet. I hope to have one by next year, though.

How long did it take to write the first draft?
Well, I just started two days ago, on the 1st. So, it's no where near finished. But I hope to be finished with the first draft in no more than a few months.

What other books in this genre compare?
None that I know of . . . I haven't read much Sci-fi/fantasy in a while.

Who or what inspired this WIP?
The bathtub and water.

Anything to add?
Check out Virtious Girlhood's blog here! She's been tagged!
